The board of directors at each credit union has unanimously approved the merger to enhance value for members and deepen community roots.

No Immediate Changes

Members will not experience any immediate changes. Both credit unions will continue to operate independently throughout the merger process.

West Community Credit Union, founded in 1936, is a $497 million financial institution that serves over 32,000 members and businesses with 7 locations in the St. Louis market and 3 branch locations in Columbia, MO operating as Tigers Community Credit Union.

How will the merger impact me?

When the merger is complete, Gateway Metro Federal Credit Union members will have access to improved digital banking technology, additional branches in the communities where you live, more ATMs, a wider range of financial products and services, the same competitive rates, and a stronger community presence.

What will happen after the merger is approved by the members?

There will be no immediate impact as the credit unions work together to become a single legal entity. In October 2026, the banking systems will merge, and your membership will automatically transfer to West Community Credit Union.

What will happen to Gateway Metro Federal Credit Union employees?

All our employees will have a position at West Community Credit Union.

Can I still apply for a loan or open additional accounts with Gateway Metro Federal Credit Union?

Yes. We will continue serving our members as normal during this transition.

Will my accounts and automatic transfers still be posted regularly?

Yes. You will continue using your existing Gateway Metro Federal Credit Union accounts, debit cards, checks, and online banking without any changes at this time. Direct deposits, transfers, and payments will also continue to be processed as normal.

Will my deposits continue to be federally insured?

Yes. Your deposits will continue to be insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). As a West Community Credit Union member, you will have additional deposit insurance of a minimum $750,000 through Excess Share Insurance (ESI), in addition to insurance provided by NCUA. This will be available after the merger is complete.
