We are thrilled that our merger is nearing completion. Our system conversion is scheduled to be completed on October 1, 2026. Upcoming Branch & Service Interruptions
Our planned systems conversion to complete our merger with West Community Credit Union will occur from 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, through Thursday, October 1. During this time, all branch services, including lobbies, drive-thrus, video tellers, and call centers, will be closed. Our online and mobile banking will also be unavailable during that time.
Normal service will resume on Friday, October 2 at 10:00 a.m. All ACH transactions and direct deposits will continue to process as scheduled, and your member number will remain unchanged. Thank you for your patience as we work to bring you enhanced products and services through West Community Credit Union.

5 Things You Can Do To Ensure An Easy Merger

Mark Your Calendars:
Make note of the dates to avoid any surprise about the temporary service interruptions and branch closures.

Plan For Temporary Debit Card Limits:
Don’t plan any large debit card purchases or cash withdrawals from Wed., Sept. 30 to Fri., Oct. 2 as transaction limits may be in place during this time.

Activate Your Debit Card:
Activate and begin using your new West Community debit card on Oct. 2. Your GMFCU debit card will be deactivated at 11:59 pm, Thurs., Oct. 1. Notify any merchants using the card for automatic payments of the new card number.

Prepare For Bill Pay Service Interruption:
GMFCU Bill Pay will be disabled on Thurs., Sept. 24. Your payees will not transfer. Download a record of your payees prior to Thurs., Sept. 24 for easier re-enrollment. Pre-scheduled payments will not process after Wed., Sept. 30.

Enroll In Digital Banking On October 2:
For fast access to your accounts, enroll in West Community Online Banking or download the West Community Mobile App on Fri., Oct. 2.
If you currently have scheduled transfers set up, you will need to reschedule them. Your Online Banking, Bill Pay and eBills will not convert in the merger.

Why do the credit unions want to merge?
While each credit union is independently, financially sound, merging our assets and resources will amplify our strength and enhance the value we deliver to our members through additional branch locations, improved technology and competitive products and services.
Who is West Community Credit Union?
What will happen to Gateway Metro Federal Credit Union employees?
All our employees will have a position at West Community Credit Union. Many employees will stay at their current locations.
What if I am already a member of West Community Credit Union?
Your Gateway Metro account will be converted to West Community Credit Union and you will have two member/account numbers.
Will my member/account numbers change?
No. Your member/account numbers will remain the same.
Will my accounts and automatic transfers still be posted regularly?
Yes. You will continue using your existing Gateway Metro Federal Credit Union accounts, debit cards, checks, and online banking without any changes at this time. Direct deposits, transfers, and payments will also continue to be processed as normal.
Will I be able to access online and mobile banking during the merger?
No. Gateway Metro online banking will be unavailable after 5pm on Wednesday, September 30. On October 2, you can enroll in online banking with West Community Credit Union.
The Gateway Metro mobile banking app will be unavailable after 3pm on Wednesday, September 30. On October 2, you can download the West Community Credit Union mobile app.
Can I still use the Freedom 24 Audio Response Line during the merger?
No. The Freedom 24 Audio Response services will be discontinued at 5pm on Wednesday, September 30. On Friday, October 2, you can use the West Community’s Telephone Teller by calling 866-328-1389 to register.
Will the Gateway Metro phone number change?
Yes. After Thursday, October 1, you should call West Community Credit Union at (636) 720-2400 or toll free at (800) 550-6860.
What will happen to my Gateway Metro loan?
Loans will automatically be converted to West Community Credit Union. On Thursday, October 1, loans will convert and you may begin making loan payments to West Community Credit Union.
Will branch hours be impacted during the merger?
Yes. Gateway Metro branches will close at 5pm on Wednesday, September 30, and will remain closed through Thursday, October 1. The branches will reopen as West Community Credit Union at 10am on Friday, October 2.
Will my deposits continue to be federally insured?
Yes. Your deposits will continue to be insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). As a West Community Credit Union member, you will have additional deposit insurance of a minimum $750,000 through Excess Share Insurance (ESI), in addition to insurance provided by NCUA. This will be available after the merger is complete.
Will I still be able to access goGMFCU.org?
No. On Friday, October 2, the GMFCU website will redirect all visitors to westcommunity.org. On the West Community website, you will be able to enroll in digital banking (on Oct 2), see branch hours and locations, and learn about other products and services.
Where should I mail deposits or loan payments after the merger?
